Based upon the true story of Operation Bernhardt, the Nazi plot to destabilise the British economy by flooding it with forged Pound notes. The film focuses on the Jewish forger Salomon (Sally) Sorowitz.
The film is based on the memoir of Adolf Burger, a Slovak Jew who was imprisoned in 1942 for forging documents to save other Jews from deportation. Burger was interned at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp and forced to work on Operation Bernhardt.
